The Planning Commission serves as an advisory board to the City Council on matter pertaining to planning and zoning issues is the City of Blanchard. 

The Planning Commission serves as an advisory board to the City Council on matter pertaining to planning and zoning issues is the City of Blanchard. It is responsible for procuring information and making recommendations to the City Council on the creation or modification of zoning districts and their regulations. The Commission serves as a recommending body to the City Council regarding the approval or disapproval of all preliminary, final, and revised plats of land. The Commission shall discharge all functions involving City planning and zoning by law or ordinance, and shall investigate, study, and submit reports and recommendations to the City Council on all such matters as it or the City Council deem appropriate and which have any relation to municipal planning or zoning. They make recommendation for zoning reclassification of land and lot splits. The Commission also holds public hearings on such zoning applications or the creation or modification of zoning districts and their regulations. The City Planner serves as an advisor to the Commission.

The Planning Commission meetings are open to the public and held at the new Municipal Courthouse located at 300 N. Main Street on the 2nd Thursday of each month at 6:30pm. The fol­low­ing indi­vid­u­als were appointed or re-appointed to the City’s Plan­ning Com­mis­sion by the City Coun­cil to serve a three-year term. These are cit­i­zens who take an avid inter­est and pride in Blanchard, who get involved by giv­ing unselfishly through vol­un­teer­ing their time and energy in order to make Blanchard “a great place to live, work and play.”
